The Power of Permanence in Vertical Market Software

Daniel Zinman:

Some companies buy to sell, we buy to build forever.

At Perseus Group, our mission is simple to acquire vertical market software and steward those businesses for life.

We started back in 2004, I joined a few months after our first three acquisitions were formed, which became our home building group.

We were operating out of some industrial warehouse space, which was an old auto parts warehouse that had maybe two windows. I fought to get one of them.

Around the 2008 period, things got difficult in the home building market that we were serving, and we realized we needed to diversify.

Sean Raynor:

We’re a permanent home for our businesses. That means we have a very long-term approach to developing people, working with our customers, and allowing each business to realize its full potential.

Daniel Zinman:

When we buy, we never sell. And why it’s so impactful is it informs everything we do. We think of everything with a long-term perspective in mind that informs the way we treat our customers, our employees and our business strategies.

Michael Goldband:

Selling their company, it’s not just a financial decision, it’s deeply personal. Founders want to protect their employees and their customers. Perseus offers reassurance. People and customers have long-term security.

Victor Lim:

The businesses run very autonomously. We want local leadership to stay in charge, we want them to know their customers the best, we want to rely on their expertise.

Perseus provides benchmarks and access to a global network so that everyone can get better and support is here when they need it.

Kanchan Java:

Firstly, we have a really honest, humble and hardworking culture. We have autonomy across our organization. That’s one of the most important characteristics of our business where we feel that when people are empowered to make the decisions that they need to make, when they feel like they can drive their own learning and growth and improvements within the business, that’s when they perform at their best.

Daniel Zinman:

As part of Constellation Software, with more than 1000 acquisitions across the group, we bring scale, stability and permanence.

At Perseus, our promise is simple. We buy to hold, and we hold for life. That permanence is what defines us.

In the end, it’s not just about software or acquisitions, it’s about people, culture, and the legacy that deserves to keep growing.
