Employee Success Story: Kim Clark on Growth, Continuity, and Leading Through Change

At Perseus Group, we’re proud to share the journeys of employees who’ve built meaningful, lasting careers with us, often starting when their company joined through acquisition.

This story features Kim Clark, who started her career at Conasys in 2009 and today leads a customer experience team that serves homeowners and builders across North America. Her story highlights how careers can flourish with new opportunities after acquisition.

Q: What is your role within the Constellation Homebuilders Systems?

Kim: I head up the Customer Experience Operations team, we manage the homeowner-facing side of our software. Homebuyers use our portals to track warranty items and communicate with their builders, and we also run a survey business that gathers homeowner feedback. My team implements these products and supports customers on an ongoing basis.

Q: You joined Conasys in 2009, years before it was acquired. What were those early days like?

Kim: We were a smaller company; I handled implementation and customer support for our clients. The software was very different back then, much simpler. Although we had a good product and solid team, there was uncertainty about the future of the business which was a worry.

After joining Constellation, development accelerated, and the product has grown so much. It’s not the same software it once was, and that evolution has been exciting to be a part of.

Q: What was your experience going through the acquisition in 2014?

Kim: Naturally, we were worried about losing autonomy. But Perseus’ leadership, especially Dexter Salna and Chris Graham, made it clear that our team was valued and we would stay together as a unit. That reassurance made the world of a difference to us.

Q: Your role expanded after Conasys joined Constellation. How did acquisitions in the survey space impact your career and growth?

Kim: Perseus gave me opportunities I never would have had if we’d remained a small, independent company. After joining Constellation, our team went on to acquire Woodland O’Brien & Scott in the U.S. and later CustomerInsight in Canada.

Both acquisitions came with unique challenges, but they also opened the door to growth. I was given responsibility for leading those operations, which stretched me in new ways and helped me develop skills I wouldn’t have gained otherwise. Those experiences broadened my perspective and made my role far more dynamic than I could have imagined back in 2009.

Q: What does your team look like today?

Kim: There are about 12 of us, split between Canada and the USA. Half focus on the homeowner portals and the other half on the surveys. What I like is that Perseus gives us responsibility at the right pace. We’re challenged but not overloaded. This balance allows the team to succeed.

Q: How would you describe the culture shift, if any, post-acquisition?

Kim: Honestly, we were a good fit from the start. The Homebuilder Group is full of entrepreneurial people who want to move fast and build smart software, which matched how we were already working. What changed was adapting to being part of something bigger, with more structure and requirements, it’s been nothing but positive for our team.

Q: If a founder asked you what happens to employees after acquisition, what would you tell them having been through the experience?

Kim: I would tell them that their employees will be taken care of. In our experience, people felt like part of a family right away. Leadership knows everyone by name, involves them in decisions, and supports us with competitive salaries, bonuses, and benefits.

If you’re worried about your team, I’d say don’t be, they are in good hands.

Q: Looking back, what stands out most about your journey?

Kim: It’s been the balance of continuity and growth. I still feel connected to the company I joined in 2009, but I’ve also had opportunities to lead new business lines, expand teams, and help products evolve. That combination has made it a very fulfilling career. I’m looking forward to the next chapter, whatever that brings!
