Celebrating the People Behind the Progress: 2026 Unsung Heroes

Every business has people whose impact can be difficult to quantify. They are the colleagues others turn to when they need help, the people who step into difficult situations without hesitation, and those who freely share their knowledge to make the people around them stronger.

At Perseus, our annual Unsung Heroes program recognizes these individuals and the contributions they make to their colleagues, customers, and businesses. Each year, we celebrate our Unsung Heroes as part of Perseus Epic, our annual learning event that brings leaders from across the group together.

What Makes an Unsung Hero

There is no single role, function or contribution that defines an Unsung Hero. Looking across this year’s recipients, what stands out is how their colleagues describe the way they show up for others. They are dependable and generous with their time and knowledge and take ownership when it matters. They approach challenges with curiosity and make the people around them better, often without seeking recognition for themselves.

This year, we recognized five individuals from across Perseus who embody this spirit.

Debbie Blundell
Customer Success Manager, Auto-IT

Debbie’s teammates describe her as approachable, patient and always willing to help, regardless of how much she has on her plate. She has a knack for breaking down complex issues in a way that makes them easier to understand, while bringing the kind of candid, practical perspective her colleagues value.

Her influence extends well beyond those day-to-day moments. During a period of significant transformation at Auto-IT, Debbie helped build a support team spanning New Zealand, Australia and Southeast Asia and developed it into a high-performing unit. As General Manager Aaran Newman put it, Debbie has been “a rock” for the business.

Liz Vertheim
VP, Sales, RO Writer

Liz is recognized for the results she helps create, and the energy she brings to getting there. Her colleagues describe a leader who looks for opportunities others might miss and then rallies her team around bringing them to life. She brings a can-do attitude, a willingness to jump into new challenges and enough humor and sarcasm to make even a long day on a trade show floor more enjoyable.

Her willingness to get involved has also played an important role in RO Writer’s growth. Liz was closely involved in the launch of its new CRM offering, working across sales, implementation and support and going onsite with the company’s partner to help ensure teams were aligned.

Muhammad Umair
Director of Software Development and AI Transformation, Constellation HomeBuilder Systems

Much of Muhammad’s work happens behind the scenes, but his colleagues say its impact is felt throughout the organization. He is described as dependable, knowledgeable and constantly looking for innovative, cost-effective ways to solve problems.

When new opportunities emerge, whether a new technology or an unfamiliar challenge, his instinct is to explore them with curiosity and determination. Muhammad always remains calm when challenges arise and looks for ways to help others move forward with him.

Audra Sweeney
Senior Account Manager, OPTIVIQ

Audra’s colleagues describe her as someone who does what needs to be done simply because they care about their team and their customers. She has developed a reputation for listening closely and acting before small issues become larger ones.

During the launch of a new support program, Audra took ownership when a colleague was unexpectedly pulled away and helped carry the initiative across the finish line. Her colleagues see the same care in everyday moments, from supporting customers to organizing social events, tending to the office plants and finding ways for the team to give back to its community.

Shakil Akhter
R&D Manager, Constellation Kidney Group

Shakil’s colleagues describe him as someone they can count on, particularly when navigating unfamiliar or demanding work. He brings a willingness to learn to each new challenge, approaching difficult projects not simply as something to complete, but as an opportunity to build new skills and knowledge.

This mindset was evident when Shakil successfully delivered a project that was new territory for his entire team. Throughout the process, he remained committed, supported those around him and embraced what the experience could teach him.

Investing in the People Who Make Our Businesses Stronger

At Perseus, we talk often about learning, experimentation and creating opportunities for people to grow. Programs like Unsung Heroes are another part of that commitment.

That spirit of giving extends beyond the workplace. Each Unsung Hero Award recipient receives a $250 donation to direct to a registered charity, nonprofit organization or foundation of their choice, allowing them to support a cause that matters to them and carry their impact into the wider community.

Congratulations to Debbie, Liz, Muhammad, Audra and Shakil, and thank you for everything you do for the people and businesses around you.
