In our latest Leadership Spotlight, we sit down with Steven Greenwood, President and Co-Founder of Magstar. Steven shares his journey from founding Magstar to leading it through a successful acquisition, reflecting on the growth, opportunities, and collaboration that have shaped the company’s success within Perseus and the Gemini Portfolio.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your portfolio?

My journey with Perseus began in 2012 when they acquired Magstar, a company I co-founded. Following the acquisition, I was given the opportunity to stay on and take on the role of President and General Manager—a transition that allowed me to continue leading the company while leveraging the resources of a larger organization.

What does post-acquisition success look like for Magstar?

Joining Perseus and Constellation Software significantly elevated our credibility. Having the backing of a well-established organization not only strengthened our reputation but also made it easier to engage with potential clients and partners.

Since the acquisition, we’ve been able to secure larger deals, attract bigger customers, and increase our revenue—achieving levels of success that far exceeded what we accomplished before becoming part of Perseus.

What has been the biggest benefit of joining the Gemini Portfolio?

The biggest benefit has been the peer-to-peer collaboration across the portfolio. Our developers can sit down and exchange ideas with other developers, and our customer support teams can share best practices, wins, and lessons learned with their counterparts from other businesses. This cross-company knowledge sharing has been invaluable in improving our operations and problem-solving.

Lastly, what would you tell sellers about life post-acquisition?
